Meet E. Scott Butcher, President & CEO, Licensed Insurance & Securities Professional

Scott was the chief financial officer of a community bank for over sixteen years prior to transitioning to founding Hometown Retirement Strategies. Prior to that he spent over ten years primarily as the corporate controller of a group of Fortune 500 subsidiaries. With his financial experience, he can provide clients with an inside look at how banks manage their loan and deposit rates. With this knowledge, he can assist clients with strategies to provide better yields, while maintaining the safety of principal.

Scott has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Emory & Henry College in Management, with an Accounting Concentration; a Master’s of Accountancy Degree from Virginia Tech with a concentration in tax; and is licensed to sell life, health, annuities & securities in Virginia.

When he is not working, Scott enjoys spending time with his beautiful bride, Terry, and two wonderful daughters, Annie and Ellie.  With both daughters now in college and growing ever more independent, Scott looks forward to traveling more with Terry and visiting the wonderful sites the United States has to offer.  He also enjoys hiking, golfing, fishing, and shooting hoops on the basketball court.

Scott is a man of faith and enjoys serving in many different capacities with his brothers and sisters in Christ at Community Heights Church.  He believes in servant leadership and can point to no greater servant leader than the Lord Jesus Christ himself.  Scott says, “I pray He uses me as His hands and feet, in spite of my many shortcomings, each and every day.”
